§ 15-1. Parking, storage or disposal of abandoned property in county roads' right-of-way prohibited.

  • (a)

    For the purpose of this section, an "abandoned motor vehicle" is defined as one that is in a state of disrepair and incapable of being moved under its own power, and/or does not have a current safety inspection and license plate.

    (b)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to utilize the right-of-way of any county road in the county for the parking, storage or disposal of any abandoned motor vehicle, household appliance, glass, building material, building rubbish or similar items.

    (c)

    Enforcement of the provisions on this section shall be the responsibility of the sheriff's office or the local police in the county.

    (d)

    Any person parking or storing abandoned motor vehicles, or other materials as set out in paragraph (b) of this section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor punishable as provided in section 1-9 of this Code; further, the offender shall be required to forthwith remove such abandoned vehicle or other prohibited item from the right-of-way of the county road.
