§ 16-6. Award of "meritorious good time."

Latest version.
  • (a)

When an inmate is classified, he/she will be advised of their adjusted release date based on good behavior under this act [Act 639 of 1979]. If there are not major write ups, this date will be observed in their release. However, if there is a problem, the inmate will appear before the classification committee and the number of days of meritorious good time will be reduced proportionally to the degree of the offense.

    (b)

Earning ten (10) days per month, the infraction of rules could result in a loss of anywhere from one (1) day to all of the time accumulated. Lost good time may be restored, based on good behavior, by the sheriff or his designee. This meritorious good time is separate from and in addition to "earned" time as a trustee.
