§ 8-19. Same—Heavy trash.

Latest version.
  • (a)

The Department will provide two (2) trips per year to each residence with an active sanitation account, upon request, for the collection of heavy items enumerated in section 8-17(d)(4)—(6) at no additional cost to the residents. If a residence with an active sanitation account requests any subsequent collections of heavy items enumerated in section 8-17(d)(4)—(6), each additional trip will be billed to the residence in the amount of forty dollars ($40.00) per trip.

    (b)

Heavy trash items shall be placed within five (5) feet of the edge of the public road or street curb line nearest to the property of the residents.

    (c)

In the event a resident has a large amount of heavy trash or desires more rapid collection, the resident may call the Department to arrange for a special collection. A special collection fee of a minimum of forty dollars ($40.00) shall be charged to help defray costs of equipment and personnel for providing this additional service. The exact cost shall be determined by the Department considering length of trips, number of personnel and amount of time required.

    (d)

Normally, solid waste shall not be collected on any day which may be decreed a county holiday by the County Judge and the Quorum Court. Maximum public notice, via newspapers and radio and television, will be given to notify residents if collections will be made on the holiday, or when collections will be made following the holiday.
