§ 8-25. Definitions.

  • (a)

    Medical waste is defined as special waste from health care related facilities; a waste which if improperly treated, handled or disposed of may serve to transmit an infectious disease(s) and which includes the following: pathological waste, bulk human blood and regulated body fluids, blood and body fluid soaked waste, microbiological waste, contaminated sharps and animal waste, as defined by the State Board of Health Regulations Section III, generated by any facility or person as defined in Section IV of the Health Department Regulations.

    (b)

    Commercial medical waste treatment facility is defined as any facility which treats medical waste generated by someone other than itself.
